What To Expect
🗓 Date: Saturday 19 July 2025 🕐 Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (kai & prizes to follow!) 📍 Location: Karangahape Road & Ponsonby Road, Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland (meet at The Charlotte Museum 1A Howe Street, Freemans Bay at 9:00 AM). 💸 Cost: $20 pp 👯♀️ Teams: Sign up solo or in a group of 3-5 👗 Dress-up theme: Queer Sports Day Realness! Think chaotic team uniforms, mesh singlets, sweatbands, glitter jocks, sports drag, and over-the-top P.E. teacher energy. Event Description Get ready for a campy, creative, chaos-fuelled adventure through Karangahape and Ponsonby Roads! The Queer Amazing Race is a scavenger-hunt-style challenge and celebration of queer history, community, and joyful movement. Teams will make their way between iconic and community-rich locations, following clues that celebrate queer history and culture. Along the way, you’ll take on weird and wonderful challenges: think DIY cheer routines, softball glam-ups, creative pottery-making, safer sex missions, and more. This collaborative event is all about connection, community knowledge, movement, and unapologetic fun – and of course, it all wraps up with some kai (a BBQ). Expectations - All LGBTQIA+ folks & allies warmly welcomed (anyone 18 & under requires adult supervision due to the nature of the tasks). - Come as you are & move at your own pace. - Everyone has autonomy- you always have the right to opt out of any challenge. - This is a sober event. - Please be kind to the businesses, parks, & community spaces we visit. - Be kind to our wonderful task facilitators & staff. - Dress for joy & movement- costumes encouraged! We encourage comfy shoes, weather-appropriate layers, and clothes that let you move safely. - While we aim to be as inclusive as possible, some locations have stairs and narrow entries. Share your accessibility requirements with us via the booking form. - Rain or shine: This event will go ahead in most weather conditions. Book your spot now to receive early clues, official rules, and updates. Due to software limitations, we cannot offer sliding scale payment options. Radiqal Movement caters to LGBTQ+ and takatāpui communities, welcoming whānau, allies, and other communities that are misrepresented and often omitted from mainstream fitness spaces. All attendees, regardless of background, abilities, or identities, are welcome to participate in our events, as long as participants understand and agree to uphold our values. Everyone deserves to be acknowledged for who they are. • Engage in respectful conversations and embrace the diversity of perspectives, identities and lived experiences within our community. Everyone is on their own journey. • Be mindful of language and behaviours that may exclude or harm others. • Respect others' privacy by not taking or sharing photos or videos, or sharing personal details of other participants, without the express permission of everyone involved. • Follow all health and safety instructions from Radiqal Movement staff. Disregarding these guidelines may result in removal from the event. • Wear clothing that is safe and comfortable for the respective environment, including closed-toe shoes where required. • Do not use any photo or video taken at our events for commercial purposes without written consent from Radiqal Movement's Chief Executive. Paid bookings can be cancelled or rescheduled up to 24 hours before the event for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the event are non-refundable, as our team has already committed time and resources to making the magic happen. Thanks for understanding!
